Movies: Thunderbolts Review (Spoilers Ahead)

I just watched the latest MCU film, and trust me, Thunderbolts is the best Marvel movie we’ve had in a long while. It honestly feels like we’ve been crawling through the trenches ever since Endgame, and finally, it looks like Marvel might be getting back on track.

Thunderbolts

If you’re an MCU fan like I am, you probably felt the buzz around Thunderbolts too, the energy was really high, especially with all the trailers they released. But I wasn’t so sure of what to expect as the last Captain America (Falcon) movie had the same rollout, but fell flat when I watched it.

Well, I’m glad to report that Thunderbolts* actually delivered. It had that typical MCU feel, action, humour, emotional beat, without trying too hard to push any agenda. It gave us new movie characters, old characters getting recognised and redeemed and the themes around family, loneliness, and just being human were a nice touch

That said, I wasn’t completely sold on how they handled the Void. Defeating a Thanos-level threat with “love and togetherness”? Really? That felt like a bit of a cop-out. What do you mean that he just dissolved away because you showed him love. I am not buying that, also when Yelena entered the void, she didn’t die. Does that mean, the people he turned into dust (or is it shadows) were still alive in the void, if they were, why didn’t Yelena see anyone? That part didn’t quite add up for me.

Then the major turn-off for me, was them turning into the ‘The New Avengers’, please how does that work? I know Iron Man and Black Widow are dead, but what happens to Hulk, Dr Strange, Thor, Spiderman, Captain America? Yes, I know they have tried to set up the next phase where the old avengers (can’t believe I am using ‘old’) fight the New Avengers for credibility, but after that what next?

Can’t lie, I’m really curious to see what Phase 6 brings. There are way too many unresolved plot holes, and Thunderbolts (along with the ones before it) hasn’t tied any of them up yet. I also need to see The Sentry do more than just washing dishes, also how would Captain America take Bucky’s betrayal?(Bucky has allied with John Walker now)

I will rate this a 7/10 though, it is a great watch for MCU lovers. Check this Reddit thread for more spoilers
