88-Year-Old Owner Assaulted as Masked Thieves Crash Into Family Jewelry Store.

On Friday, yet another terrifying smash-and-grab shook California this time at a family-run jewelry store, Kim Hung Jewelry. According to the Shade Room it wasn’t just the display cases that were smashed , the 88-year-old owner himself was assaulted during the robbery.

An SUV plows straight into the storefront, glass flying everywhere. Within seconds, masked men in black storm the place, shouting at everyone to “get the f–k down.” They didn’t stop at the cases filled with jewelry; they went after the man who built this business with his own hands.

Think about that for a moment 88 years old. Instead of spending his golden years in peace, he’s facing violence in the very store that has probably been his pride and livelihood for decades. A family friend told ABC7, “He is ok, business is not ok.” And honestly, that sums it up. Physically, he may recover, but financially? Spiritually? That’s a whole other wound.

Local leaders are estimating damages between $50,000 to $100,000, not even counting the medical bills. And beyond the numbers, there’s the truth everyone in that community already feels: “Every business is in danger.”

This isn’t just a crime headline. It’s a reminder of the fragile state small businesses find themselves in today. One crash, one robbery, one senseless act and how someone’s lifetime of work can be shattered in minutes.
