Authorities are investigating the double murder of two doctors after they were found dead in their luxury apartment in the Macallen Building in South Boston.
According to reports, authorities responded after one of the victims sent a frantic text message to a friend saying there was a gunman in the house. However, by the time the officers arrived to one of Boston’s most luxurious areas, it was too late.
Officials are yet to confirm the cause of death.
A suspect, who has been identified as Bampumim Teixeria, 30-years, was arrested at the scene after a shootout with police, following a 911 call reporting a person with a gun on Dorchester Avenue in the same area.
He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
According to authorities, the victims, Dr Lina Bolanos, who is 38-years and Dr. Richard Field 49-years may have known their killer. However, the connection remains unclear.
Both Field and Bolanos, who were engaged, were known well-known anesthesiologists. The friends and staffs of both professionals released statements, revealing the impacts the doctors made on them.
“He was a valued member of the medical community and a tremendous advocate for his patients,”
said North Shore Pain Management an organization founded by Dr. Fields.
“His tragic and sudden passing leaves an inescapable void in all of us.”
The CEO of the clinic where Bolanos was employed said:
“Doctor Bolanos was an outstanding anesthesiologist and a wonderful colleague in the prime of her of both her life and career. We will do all we can to support their families and our staff members who are processing this senseless tragedy and grieving an enormous loss.”
