Word on the street is that Soulja Boy just got arrested by LAPD over the weekend and yes, it’s serious. Early Sunday morning (August 3), the rapper was arrested after cops pulled over a car he was riding in. He wasn’t even the driver, but police say he was caught with a gun, which is a major problem considering he’s a convicted felon. No word yet on what led to the stop, who the driver was, or who else was in the car.
Soulja Boy shot to fame in 2007 with his breakout single “Crank That (Soulja Boy),” which dominated the Billboard charts and became a viral sensation. He was just 17 then, seen as a pioneer of internet-driven fame. But since that breakout moment, his career has been filled with legal issues and controversies.

Mind you, back in April, a court ordered him to pay over $4 million in damages to a former assistant who accused him of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. The case included disturbing allegations, like being locked in a room without food and evidence of violent messages.
This latest arrest only adds to a long list of issues that have overshadowed his music in recent years.
Interestingly, Soulja isn’t the only public figure to be arrested this past weekend. YouTuber Duke Dennis was also detained in San Antonio, Texas. A viral video shows police pinning him to the ground at a mall. He reportedly faces charges of trespassing and evading arrest.
As of now, it’s unclear whether Soulja Boy is still in custody or has posted bail. More details will likely emerge in the coming days and I will always report them as they come.
