Letitia James: The FBI probes New York Attorney General over mortgage fraud

Letitia  James, the 67th Attorney General for the state of New York is currently facing some tough time in her career, from being compared to the Black American woman statue that was unveiled yesterday in Times Square to being hit with FBI investigating a mortgage fraud case concerning her. Definitely no sweet weekend happening anytime soon.

This coming after President Donald Trump lambasted her earlier this week, according to Trump “She’s a disaster for New York. She’s a horrible, horrible human being. And I think she’s a total crook. There’s no question about it. But that’s just my opinion. Pam is gonna have to do what she wants. She’s a very bad person … she’s a sick person.”

We all know that Trump is always quite brash, but could this be related to the fact that Letitia James is the very same AG who famously declared that “no one is above the law” while suing Trump for civil fraud. That case, which accused Trump and his company of massively inflating property values , ended in a $454 million judgment against him and his sons. So maybe this is just payback for him? We would never know

Letitia James is being accused of mortgage fraud after the Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, sent a letter to the Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy AG Todd Blanche, accusing Letitia James of ‘falsifying her mortgage records‘ According to the referral, Letitia:

  • Falsified documents to claim a Norfolk, Virginia property as her primary residence in August 2023 (while she was still living and working in New York).

  • Used that claim to get lower mortgage interest rates and better terms — a big no-no for someone who, by law, has to keep her main residence in New York.

  • Also misrepresented a Brooklyn property she’s owned since 2001 by listing it as a four-unit home instead of five, to qualify for perks that cap at four-unit properties.

Her lawyer, Abbe Lowell, says it’s all being blown out of proportion. He claims the Virginia house was actually meant for her niece (not Letitia herself) and that the “primary residence” checkbox was just an honest error. As for the Brooklyn property? He says it’s operated as a four-unit home for 24 years, with the basement unoccupied.

James herself hasn’t directly responded to the attacks, but her spokesperson says she’s staying focused on “protecting New Yorkers” and won’t get distracted by personal insults.

Twitter is currently in melt down over, and I truly hope she comes out clean with this, because things don’t really look so great.
