Netflix has suspended production of the sixth season of American TV series “House of Cards” barely two days after sexual misconduct allegations emerged involving the series leading star, Kevin Spacey.
Netflix said in a statement that production of the TV series was suspended until further notice “to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last Sunday, BuzzFeed published allegations by actor Anthony Rapp who claimed Spacey made unwanted sexual advances at him in 1986 when he was just 14-years-old.
Spacey however responded to the accusation in a statement shared on Twitter, claiming that he did not remember the incident but apologized for what he described as his “inappropriate drunken behaviour”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since the announcement of the suspension, some sources have tried to deny that the decision to end the series has anything to do with Spacey as the decision was made before the sex scandal but that’s quite hard to believe considering that the timing is so coincidental.
