After lots of Instagram influencers advertised what was supposed to be the concert of the year taking place in the Bahamas, the ticket holders were faced with shambles and disaster instead of the luxury and glamour they were promised.
The event had been endorsed by a number of high-profile models and influencers such as Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Baldwin using the hashtags #fyrefestival
Tickets for the festival, which was co-organised by the rapper Ja Rule, cost up to $12,780 for a four-person package and they were promised “a cultural moment created from a blend of music, art and food”.
Artistes who were set to perform at the event had to cancel. Could this have been a #fyrefraud of some sort? We are left to wonder
Some people tried to leave the festival but getting a flight is proving to be a problem for some. Early on Friday, William was updating his social media from a plane bound for the US.
Ticket holders were still making their way on flights to the island, but these have now all been halted as all inbound charter flights to the island was cancelled.
The festival organisers issued a statement “Thank you for bearing with us as we work through the growing pains that every first-year event experiences. Your ticket and any funds uploaded to your RFID [contactless payment] band will be refunded. Revised itinerary information will be shared soon for the remainder of this weekend and weekend two.”
Ja Rule is yet to issue a statement.
Wondering what could have caused his after all the marketing that went into it.
