The horrific tragedy occurred in Phuket, Thailand when a father used Facebook’s live-streaming service to show the hanging of his 11-month-old daughter, Natalie, and then himself.  The murder-suicide was viewed thousands of times.

The four minutes of footage showing the child’s unbearable final moments were online for 24 hours before Facebook finally removed it.

Using a smartphone, Wuttisan Wongtalay, 21, recorded himself putting a rope around his daughter’s neck and hanging her. He then killed himself.

Local media reported that Wongtalay, suspected his wife Jiranuch Trirat, 21, of having an affair and had threatened to kill her earlier that day.

He is then said to have stormed out of the house with their baby, Natalie. The distraught mother saw the murder video 45 minutes after it was posted and told police.
Lt Col Sanit Nookhong of the Thai Royal Police said the murder-suicide was an act of jealousy.

I was very afraid and ran away from the house and left Beta (Natalie) with him. I returned home late in the afternoon and they were not there. I called him to bring Beta back to the house, but I could not get in touch with him. That’s when I saw the video clip and called the police.’…

She said she had been trying to leave him.
Speaking on Tuesady outside the hospital, she said:

‘I wanted to get away from him. He was jealous and angry, very angry.
‘He scared me, I was scared and wanted to leave him. I wish I had kept my daughter with me. How can she forgive me for leaving her? I cannot let her go now. This will hurt me forever.’
