Chance The Rapper Raised $100,000 For Charity At His 24th Birthday Party

Well, Chance the Rapper seems like a pretty good guy. He celebrated his birthday in a different way. He didn’t do the usual luxury cars, strippers and the liquor being poured— he celebrated by giving back to the community.

For his 24th birthday on Saturday, the star was able to raise a whopping $100,000 in ticket sales that are going toward his nonprofit organization, SocialWorks.

As reported by Complex, ticket prices ranged from $100 to $2,500 for general admission and VIP seating, respectively. Despite the expense, tickets sold out, bringing in over $100k.

Guests enjoyed performances from Ludacris and T-Pain, appearances from Vashtie Kola and Big Bird, and a huge Harold’s Chicken Shack birthday cake.

Within the past month, the Grammy award-winning artist has raised $2.2 million for Chicago Public Schools, coming from his pocket and a donation from the Chicago Bulls. He also launched the New Chance Arts & Lit Fund that will bring arts education to schools. According to the rapper,

“It is my job just as who I am to bring light and attention to public school funding, broken formulas and especially how it affects my hometown where there’s 90 percent minority students.”

“We all individually play roles in the betterment of kids of Chicago and it’s an on-going conversation of the detriment of Chicago but we can all really get involved here.”
