Meek Mill’s legal team is claiming that Monday’s sentence by Philadelphia judge was ridden with bias and personal vendetta. Meek Mill’s attorney, Joe Tacopina says the judge passed a harsh sentence on the rapper based on sentiments. He cited an incident from last year when the judge asked Meek Mill to do a remake of Boyz II Men’s On Bended Knees and give her a shout out, a request which the rapper refused to grant.
According to Tacopina, since then, the judge has had a personal beef with Meek which explains the harsh sentence despite prosecutors recommending no jail time. Worthy of note is that the Judge and Meek are from the same part of Philly and know some of the same people.
Tacopina also shared that they will appeal the verdict. Meek Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years behind bars for violating his probation. It came as quite the shocker as the rapper and the judge have a 10 year history and has granted the Meek several easy breaks.
